which works very well on on Mac and displays data very well. Image Created - This is the date that the image was taken and timestamped by the camera. Image Digitised - usually the same as Image Created for camera generated images, but for film scans it is different. This is also the date set by Photoshop or Capture One Pro, etc when you save the file after editing. Image Generated - usually the same as Image Digitised for camera generated images. This should be the correct if your camera time is set correctly and you are at Home location!! Image Date - This is the date that the image was taken and timestamped by the camera. The image was taken in Spain using my camera set to UK time (+1 hour time difference). If you use GPS on the camera then there is one additional one from the GPS as well.Ĭreation date - This is the date that the image was taken and timestamped by the camera at its Home location. There are five EXIF data fields that control date display. The Photos app shows the correct information (when pressing command I). This is the image which was originally imported into Photos soon after capture. I have posted the various screenshots in the replies. The original image was taken at 5.18pm on 8th November 2020. I've just exported the same file in various ways and taken screenshots showing the information.

There has not been any software update on my Mac at that time that might have caused this.
I have tried to export old photos from Capture One and then imported them into Photos exactly as I did originally, but when I do this now they show the created file date even though when I originally did this they showed the capture date.Ħ. The same thing happens with all photo file types, JPEGs, TIFFs, etc.ĥ. All photos prior to November/December 2020 show the correct date and time and all photos since show the created file date rather than the capture date.Ĥ. This seems to be a Mac issue as I have exported files from Capture One and Lightroom and they all behave the same, showing the file created date and not the capture date.ģ. I have exported photos from the app and opened them with Preview and the EXIF data is correct.Ģ. The EXIF data is correctly embedded in the file in Photos. Here is a summary of some of what I have found in the hope that someone here might be able to shed some light on what is going on:ġ. I've tried everything I can think of to find out what the issue is, but I cannot get Photos to show anything other than the file created date. It's not a massive issue, but it is annoying as I can no longer sort photos by capture date nor use the information tab in Photos to remind myself of the date and time I took the photo.
